Tommy has worked in the landscape construction world since he was eligible for a work permit at the age of 15 in Clarksville, Maryland. By age 18, Tommy was operating his own business performing landscape & hardscape projects in excess of $50k for homeowners & HOAs throughout the Baltimore-DC metro area. In 2007 Tommy relocated to Austin, TX where he worked as a top account manager for a national re-wholesale nursery, and then as Senior Estimator for a L&L Top 100 Landscape Construction & Maintenance Firm.
During his role as Senior Estimator, the seed for Takeoff Monkey was planted. Years of living the chaotic & stressful pre-construction life – Tommy knew there was a faster, easier way. In 2017, Tommy relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to be closer to his family. Initially working for a couple of local construction contractors, the basis for Takeoff Monkey was further validated. Fast-forward to 2019, Takeoff Monkey was founded.
If you ask – Tommy will tell you that his passion for the industry lies in its people. Working as Founder & CEO of Takeoff Monkey affords Tommy the opportunity to meet and interact with hundreds of contractors throughout the country – and he couldn’t be happier! In his spare time, you can find Tommy in a kayak on a lake, or occasionally in a tree stand. Tommy enjoys spicy food, sour gummy worms, super early mornings, and animals.
Janet has worked in the Horticulture Industry since 1990 with a multitude of experience ranging from Maintenance, Design, Construction, Project Management, Estimating, Purchasing, Nursery Sales and Management.
With over 30 years of experience in the industry, and the last 17 being with two large wholesale nurseries located in FL, she is looking forward to helping Takeoff Monkey continue its growth! Always willing to learn and grow as this industry is ever changing.
Her love for the outdoors doesn’t stop with Horticulture however. She also loves traveling back home to the beach, and helping her husband Kevin grow his business, Spinistry, and promoting cycling events throughout Texas.
Cara earned a Bachelors degree in Sports Management from the Florida State University. She’s since been a part of, or leading, the Event Planning, Marketing, Web Management and Advertising initiatives for the former Skinner Nurseries, Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, a Pharmaceutical Meeting Planning company and the last 10 years with the former McDonnell Dermatology. Joining our team in 2023, her focus is our marketing strategy, social media presence and content creation.
Cara is a native Floridian who resides in Wellington, FL. She is the mother of 2 young girls and married to a Fire Rescue Chief. She is a Disney enthusiast and runner who is training for her 2nd marathon and the 48.6 mile Disney Dopey Challenge. In her spare time she enjoys Starbucks, collecting funky colored Goodr sunglasses, wine tasting at her local Coopers Hawk, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Madison earned a BFA in Communication Design from MSU Denver. She’s since been the Communications Director for a sustainable equipment leasing company, a marketing intern for a cannabis law firm, and the Operations lead & creative specialist for a marketing agency based out of Boulder, CO. Joining our team in 2023, her focus is our marketing strategy, social media presence and content creation.
Having relocated from Denver, CO to Belleville, IL in 2022, she now enjoys the slower life of small town living with her two kittens, dog and fiancé on their homestead. In her spare time, Madison loves to bake bread, create fiber artworks with knitting & crochet, and play ice hockey.
Amy started in the horticulture industry in 2001 and has experience in estimating, commercial and residential sales, purchasing, and accounts payables and receivables. She started in Nursery sales and distribution for a national distribution center. In 2012 she transitioned to the installation side of the industry where she focused on new home residential installs for several major builders. Amy loves the family feel of the horticulture industry. She appreciates learning so much from the industry and gained so many friends throughout the years.
When not at work, you can find Amy watching her two boys playing baseball. She loves watching them do their thing on the field. The friends and teammates they have played with have become like family. She’s proud to see that the lessons they’ve learned in baseball will help them for years to come.
Amy is looking forward to her next chapter in the industry with Takeoff Monkey. “I am eager to learn and ready to grow with the company!”
Leah started her career in 2019 in a large landscaping and maintenance firm in Charlotte, NC as an estimator. Then, for a short time, she worked as an account manager for a nationwide commercial HVAC company, building experience working in a customer-focused role, then made the switch back to landscape estimating.
A few skills that Leah brings to the team are her love of learning, flexibility, and customer service. Leah is passionate about working with each customer to achieve higher levels of success.
Her experience in subcontractor estimating taught her how important speed and accuracy are to the function of the company as a whole.
Outside of work, Leah enjoys working out, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
Justin joins the Takeoff Monkey team as a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in inside sales and B2B sales. He brings with him his expertise in strategic prospecting, lead generation, and excellent communication to drive Business and Sales Development. His work history includes successful stints at renowned companies such as Hyundai, Disney, and most recently CBORD.
Hailing from South Florida and currently residing in Miami, Justin is not just about business. Beyond work, he values time with loved ones and embraces an active lifestyle, enjoying activities such as fishing, working out, and being outdoors. Justin is eagerly anticipating this next chapter of his career with Takeoff Monkey, ready to contribute, grow, and thrive as a valuable team member.
